Passing It On

Jan. 26th.

I decided to give my niece and four nephews some of my parent’s heirlooms. Passing them on to the next generation is surely a way to hold memories, retell stories and pass the love to the next generation.

I hold the 3 wrist watches that belonged to my dad. I keep one, and pack two of them to mail with a personal note to my sister Fredley’s sons, Marcus and Jesse.

My niece Sarah is getting married in Sept. I send her the porcelain cake plates that belonged to my mom along with a few serving pieces and my mother’s white linen table cloth which graced our holiday tables for so many years.  My nephew Daniel will inherit a prayer book that belonged to my grand-father, along with an antique microscope that he has long admired.  His brother Adam and his new wife Erin will inherit the pair of brass candlesticks that graced my parent’s kitchen table for over 40 years, along with a painting of a couple embracing and the rolling pin my mother used to make delicious holiday deserts.
