Changing Life, Changing Diet

April 11th.

I eat a pretty balanced and healthy diet, but because of a few health issues I was recently tested for gluten sensitivity. I knew I had an allergy to dairy but when the results came back positive for wheat and wheat gluten sensitivity, I was not happy.  That includes barley, rye, and some kinds of oatmeal.

I took this pretty hard, sulked for a day or two and then began proactively reading labels. The Dr. assured me there is a life on a gluten free diet, but for now it feels overwhelming. So many foods contain wheat gluten, I had no idea!

I don’t know how I will do for today. I just know that sticking to gluten; dairy free diet will be an act of love for my health and something I must begin to work toward even if I don’t do it perfectly at first. The sugar will have to stay at least in small amounts for awhile.
