Love With Passion

I was in Starbucks today when I witnessed one of the employees saying good-bye to her boyfriends or husband. As they parted, I was surprised by the lack of feeling between them.  As they gave each other a half hearted hug, and said “see you later”, it struck me that most of us take it for granted that the people we love will always be there. I used to be one of those people too.

It maybe that because I’ve experienced the loss of many loved ones I know just how fragile life is. It may also be that most people need to live with a sense of denial.  The truth is that life is precious and it’s foolish to take it or those we love for granted. 

As a result when I hug someone I really hug them, both arms and a tight squeeze. When I say hello or good-bye I feel grateful to see them and keep a blessing in my heart for them as we part, for their safe-keeping until we meet again. 

Be conscious of the fact that loving people and having people who love you in your life is a gift to be treasured. So love them with your complete heart, smile with your soul when you see them. Hug them tightly and say good-bye knowing that when you see them again it’s that gift returned to you and that you are truly blessed.
