Here’s Something to Feel Good About Today…

This morning the alarm on my husband’s car went off and as a result the battery died. I was angry because he had a dental appointment, so I was the one who had to wait for AAA.  I had planned on having a productive day and this really put a wrench in my plans.

Turns out the car needed a new battery. As I watched the mechanic at work we engaged in conversation. I learned more about car batteries than I ever knew. I also learned that it is possible to completely turn your life around. He asked what I did for a living and I told him that I am creating my dream, HandPrints On My Heart. I mentioned that HandPrints stories demonstrate the power that one person has to impact another.

That’s when he opened up to me. He told me that he served time in prison for selling drugs and that he was an addict in recovery. Prison he said had been his salvation and now he lives his life with gratitude. Even though he had lost everything, his wife, his home and at one point his livelihood, he knew it was what he had to go through to create positive change. Now he speaks publicly to others who need his support. He counsels inmates and other addicts on the road to recovery. He said he owed it all to the judge who convicted him. The day he met her again, he thanked her for helping him to change his life.

It says a lot about someone who has worked hard on the inside to change their world on the outside. I told him it was a pleasure to meet him and that he was living example of the power we each have to begin again. The key is a willingness to change and having gratitude to have the opportunity.

Wherever you are in your life today, you have the power to create new possibilities for tomorrow.
