Friends Lift Us

Here’s Something to Feel Good About Today…

My close friend Beth called and woke me from my nap. It was the middle of the day and she asked why I was sleeping? I explained it was one of those days when so many things that looked promising took an unexpected turn. Several blows in a row, and I just needed to lie down.

As I told her about the events she listened carefully and said,” no wonder you’re upset, just take it easy and take care of yourself today, you need time to lick your wounds.” Soon as she said that I felt so much better. Within a few minutes she had me laughing, feeling lighter and more hopeful. Her validation was just what I needed to heal my disappointment.

I don’t know what I would do without my close friends. I know I am resilient but it’s a lot easier to bounce back after sharing a heavy heart with someone else. That’s what friends do for one another, some days we do the lifting some days we are uplifted. The one thing that always holds true is that there is never any weighing or measuring in balancing the friendship scales.

Is there someone in your life today who needs a little dose of your loving kindness? Give freely and when you need it most, that same care and attention will be returned to you. That’s what friends do for one another.
