A Simple Phone Call

Here’s Something To Feel Good About Today…

I lost track of an elderly couple who had been close friends of my parents. Long time next door neighbors, every evening at 7:00 pm, they took a long walk together.

After my parents passed I had mixed feelings about staying in contact with them. On one hand speaking with them was a painful reminder of my loss, on the other it was a heart-heart connection unlike any other. We stayed in touch for several years and when I visited the area I’d drop in and see them.

I don’t know how it happened, but they were winter snowbirds and when I called their phone number was disconnected. Not knowing how to reach them, I prayed all was well and hoped to find them in the spring.

Today I received an e-mail with their new telephone number and immediately called. The voice on the phone said, “You made this bleak and dreary day a happy and sunny one, it’s so good to hear from you.” I hadn’t realized how important a simple phone call could be and how important this connection was for all of us.

If there is someone in your life you’ve lost touch with, don’t wait, pick up the phone or send an e-mail. You’ll both feel good when you reconnect.
