Facebook has its place. I have relatives spread out across the country so it helps to keep in touch with them. The time difference and our work schedules make it difficult to connect by phone. I enjoy the quick family updates.
I feel that I have actually make important connections to one or two new people through Facebook. Sometimes the anonymity of the chat or the message makes it easier for people to open up to someone they have never met face to face.

I agree! I recently got back on Facebook only because "everyone else was doing it" and it seemed the only way I could keep up with what people were doing. People get busy and updating FB seems to be there way of sending a mass email to their friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, etc. It can be quite a time-waster. I would much prefer picking up the phone or even email--then it's one-on-one instead of the whole world. I enjoy your blog--you are welcome to check mine out whatsthebestthatcanhappen.blogspot.com. I've included a link to yours on mine...hope that's OK.
