Journal Power

Here’s Something To Feel Good About Today!

“For fast-acting relief, try slowing down.”
Lily Tomlin, comedian and actress (1939-)
2010. 3.26. Journaling Power

I’ve never been one of those people who journals every day, but I often write in a diary or pick up a legal pad when I need to find clarity. It’s those times that I discover the power of writing to guide me. This may sound strange, but when I am most troubled or confused, I ask myself a question and watch the mystery unfold as answers come back to me through my own words on the page. There is an amazing power inherent in journaling; the conscious mind relaxes allowing the unconscious or some higher, greater power to speak the truth, to help me heal, to offer some direction and clarity.

A dear friend sent me a “care package,” it included a beautiful journal. I can’t think of a more perfect gift than her opening the way for me to fill those blank pages. As my thoughts and feelings flow onto the page, I am excited to see parts of myself along with new insights revealed.

Do you allow yourself the time to slow down and reflect? Try writing your thoughts and allowing your words to reveal the answers. If you are thinking about a meaningful gift for a special friend; consider giving a journal. What’s your experience with journaling?
