Look with New Eyes

Here’s Something To Feel Good About Today!

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” Marcel Proust

When I was younger, I experienced a lot of feelings of disappointment in both people and in circumstances. Much of it was caused by my own expectations as to how things should be and how others were supposed to act. Many times I wasn’t looking clearly at the other person or seeing the reality of the situation. More often than not, I was living in my own head, playing out my own scenarios and seeing with blinders on. Everything changed when I began to see things from a different vantage point. I had learned to let go of expectations and to accept people and situations as they are, rather than how I wished them to be.

Living without expectation is a challenge for most of us, but it leads to a much happier way of being. Accepting others for who they are, and facing reality for what it is, allows you the freedom to be authentic and genuine with yourself and with others.

The next time you feel disappointed; try seeing the same situation through someone else’s eyes. You may be surprised at your new perspective. Want to share; I’d love to hear your thoughts…..
