Here’s Something To Feel Good About Today!

Rosalind Russell as Auntie Mame

“Live! Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death.” Film Auntie Mame

What if you were invited to a huge event and the invitation read bring your own food, beverages, guests and decorations. Bring whatever you need to have a wonderful celebration! We will provide the place; the rest is up to you. Would you decide to pass on going, would you blame the event planner for not providing or catering to your needs, or would you create your own fantastic party! The fact is that it’s up to us to enjoy what we have every moment that we are blessed have it.

No one exemplifies this joie de vivre (joy of life) more than the character played by Rosalind Russell in one of my favorite movies, Auntie Mame. There is so much to be learned from her vitality, spontaneity, and sense of adventure. I always remember the scene when she is going through tough times and cheers up her staff (who she cannot afford to pay), with the lyrics from the song, “we need a little Christmas right this very moment.”

Most of us forget to really enjoy life every step of the way. If you find yourself waiting for happier times, think again, find and create joy in the moments that you are living right now. Happiness lives as you do, not in some future place, but in this moment.

  1. Thanks for reminding me about “Auntie Mame”. When I was in my 30s my nephew used to say I reminded him of “Auntie Mame” (he was just a little guy then)

May we all never lose our “Auntie Mame” qualities and to those that don’t have ‘em I say go out and get ‘em!!!
