What’s Your Secret?

Here’s Something To Feel Good About Today!

“You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel.” Anonymous

At one time or another we all hold a secret. Some of mine have been personal but I have also held others that were shared in confidence by a trusting friend. A few secrets from my past were buried long after they needed to be. When I finally had the courage to share them, my heart was finally free and I wondered why I had carried the weight of that burden for so long.

There is a saying, “we are as sick as our secrets.” But secrets take time to process, there is a time for holding on and a time when only the heart knows it is ready to move toward acceptance and letting go. One thing I know for sure is that sooner or later our feelings catch up with us.

If you have a secret that you are not ready to share, you might find it helpful to write about it. Keeping a journal or diary may be your first step toward letting go. At first it can be for only your eyes and kept under lock and key. Words on the page have a way of freeing you. Words shared with someone else have a way of healing you even more. You have only to remember that the empty page is ready to be written upon and somewhere there is a compassionate person willing to listen.
