Freedom: Remember All Our Heroes with Gratitude

Freedom: Remember All Our Heroes with Gratitude

“Here’s Something To Feel Good About!”

“The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage.”
Thucydides quotes (Ancient Greek historians and author, 460-404bc)

In the past for me, Memorial Day signified a Holiday meant for fun; family picnics, gathering with friends, laughter around the pool, a visit to a local park. It was a day off from work or school that meant time out from ordinary responsibilities. Banks and post offices would be closed as were most businesses. Only retail stores and restaurants were open for consumer spending, and I was one of them.

Like many never directly effected by war, I took for granted that freedom has never come free. My ability to live as I choose, has been carried for generations on the backs and through the life’s blood of many. I came to understand this in my soul, when I watched the twin towers fall, on Sept. 11th.

Now I see this holiday as a day of remembrance. A time to look back through history and pay tribute to all the collective acts of bravery and courage, acknowledging the sacrifices made by so many. I ask you to take a moment from your day, to pause and remember all the heroes who have given their lives and those who continue to serve us, so that each of us can experience the gift of freedom.

  1. This Memorial Day was a person of the ideal Memorial Days that I have had in awhile. For the first time in a few of many years we went to a cookout alternatively of hosting it. So substantially additional stress-free and a lot much less strain. I could loosen up, enjoy the parade and play with my little ones. I just wanted to say many thanks for the all the difficult get the job done and sacrifices that our soldiers gave to defend the freedoms of this region.
