Clear Clean Space to Create More Happiness

Clear Clean Space to Create More Happiness

“Here’s Something to Feel Good About!”

After a trip to the Salvation Army today, I have to say that I feel so much lighter and more joyful! I finally let go of the clutter, clothing, handbags and shoes that I said a year ago I would wear again and owned up the the fact that “someday” will never come.

In order to live freely today, I have to make space for the new and that means letting go of the old. My challenge is to stay in the flow of continually recycling when my tendency is to collect, and hold on. The way I see it is my clutter is now a gift to someone else. The clean and open space I create is my gift to myself. Marlene Moore Gordon

“I’ve been getting rid of some clutter —
anything that doesn’t serve a positive purpose in my life —
and making room for things that feel happy to me.
Because I get to make my life whatever I want it to be.
I get to make the room feel however I want it to feel.
I get to make the closet as full or as spacious as I want it.
And, if I have more clutter to get rid of after Christmas,
I’m not going to wait a year, or two or three to do it.”

Jan Denise

“Anyone who has ever cleaned out a closet
and taken stuff to Goodwill knows how liberating it is.
You feel lighter, your mind feels clearer.”

Cecile Andrews (author and sustainability proponent)

“The more you have, the more you are occupied.
The less you have, the more free you are.”

Mother Teresa

A book I am reading that inspired me to clean out my closets as a step to increasing my overall happiness is “The Happiness Project.” If this intrigues you, here’s a HandPrintsQuicklink to buy the book.

You had me thinking, I need to do this today. I will clean my closet and I am sure I have a lot to give to Salvation Army. It has been a long time since I did this. Thanks for you post!

I had done this last week. You are right. It felt so good to let go of the clutter in my closet. And I felt happy too because I know someone will use it and love it like I do before.
