Thank You For Being My Dad
“Here’s Something To Feel Good About Today!”
“His heritage to his children wasn’t words or possessions, but an unspoken treasure, the treasure of his example as a man and a father.”
– Will Rogers Jr.
Although it may seem to be just another commercial holiday, let’s remember the real meaning of Father’s Day is to “be grateful.”
My dad passed on in 2000, yet not a day goes by that I don’t think of him. I am so thankful I had the chance to let him know while he lived, how much he meant to me and more importantly, how proud I was to have had him as my Dad. My father wasn’t perfect, but then again neither was I. At times our differences were unnerving, but our similarities were also uncanny. The amazing thing is that despite everything, we learned to forgive each other’s shortcomings and grew to appreciate, value and most of all love each other. No matter what life brought to us, in the end we forged a deep and powerful connection that will endure.
Join me and let’s say Thank YOU to your dad and to dads everywhere. Share a few sentences or a couple of paragraphs about the most significant gift your father has given you and how you are now making a difference for someone else because of him. Let’s make this blog and your comments a great way to thank all of our dads.
The time to connect is now! If your father is living you can take a moment to acknowledge him by sharing your words. If your dad has passed on, it’s never too late to remember his legacy. There are positive traits he gave you, parts of him that live on in you, that you have or can pay forward in the world. Share with us.
It’s our way to say “Thank You” to all men who have taken on the challenge of Fatherhood.
Here’s another Father’s Day Gift. It’s a song written by a son to his father, but I am sure many daughters will relate, I know I do.
