Simple Reach Out and Touch Their Hand

Simple Reach Out and Touch Their Hand

Here’s Something New to Feel Good About Today!

“Remember, we all stumble, every one of us. That’s why it’s a comfort to go hand in hand.”
Emily Kimbrough

Who in your life could use a little encouragement today? Is it you? Don’t wait, reach out and touch someone’s hand.

Are you willing to ask for help? I wasn’t, I was embarrassed. It made me feel weak, less than. I used to take great pride in being self sufficient. From the outside, I appeared to be very confident, someone who really had her act together. No one knew the feelings of isolation that I kept hidden. Underneath my need to appear perfect to others, was a person who held herself apart for fear of exposing my own vulnerabilities.

I’ve traveled a long, winding road to understand that the power of relationships is that I need other people in order to heal myself as much as they might need me to help them do the same. It’s a two way street. It’s OK that I am not perfect, neither is anyone else. I can reach out to encourage, comfort and support someone and have it fill my heart rather than deplete my energy. My willingness to listen holds the place for them to be heard, my sharing from my heart creates the bond between us.

Share with me how you reached out to help someone else or how someone reached to help you. What happened? How did you feel?

PASS-ALONG TIP:

Healthy relationships always begin with sharing from the heart. It doesn’t matter if it’s with an old friend or a stranger. You never know who you’ll meet or what the connection might be. Just being there to hold someone’s words or even better their hand, creates a miraculous bond for both of you.
