Here’s Something New to Feel Good About Today!
Life is too short to sleep on low thread-count sheets. ~Leah Stussy
If you love and care for yourself, you’ll make sure you get enough sleep.
Are you one of those people that think you function fine on just 4-5 hours of sleep? Maybe you feel you just don’t have the time to sleep or you’re so stressed out that when your head hits the pillow you toss and turn and can’t fall asleep. Whatever your reason, you may want to re-evaluate your sleep habits. Studies prove that sleep is vital to replenish your body and sustain your good health.
I see a direct correlation between my self-esteem, self-care and sleep. If I love myself and want to take really good care of my health, I know I need to make sleep a priority. My longevity and overall health depend upon it.
Personally, I need at least 7-8 hours but there are times when I can sleep 10 hours or more just to catch up. After a good night’s sleep I feel like I can take on anything. When I don’t get enough I’m irritable and grouchy. I find it harder to learn anything new and it really affects my memory.
There are so many benefits to having a good night’s sleep. When I have any kind of illness or am under heightened stress I make it a point to get additional rest. It’s my way of taking extreme self care and nurturing me back to health. I am lucky that falling asleep has never been difficult for me. In fact, when I am under great stress sleep has always been my greatest refuge.
Below are a few tips to help you get a restful night’s sleep. Two of my personal ones are, if you are traveling any place where there’s a major time difference I highly recommend Melatonin, it really worked for me to overcome jet lag during a recent trip from CA to Israel. The other is that I adore a hot bath before bed, it’s my nightly ritual.
If you can think of anything that helps you sleep share it with me, so other’s can benefit from your experience. Pretty dreams, and in the words of my mother-in –law “see you at the featherbed ball.”
