Valentine’s Day, Thanks For Loving Me

Valentine’s Day, Thanks For Loving Me

Here’s Something New To Feel Good About Today!

“You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.” Sam Keen

Are you celebrating Valentine’s Day with someone special, or still waiting for that “perfect” person to arrive? The truth is that LOVE is all around you. It comes in all shapes and sizes and you never know who will touch your heart or when. The question is are you ready to receive LOVE when it comes your way?

Don’t let the day pass without saying “I Love You”, whether it’s to your mate, a sibling, a friend, family member or co-worker. We need not make Valentine’s Day the day set aside just for lovers. Let’s make it another day to celebrate LOVE in all our relationships.

I met my husband Robert, when I wasn’t looking for LOVE, on the heels of a very painful divorce. From the start he was not only my lover, he became my best friend and confidant. Through the years our love and friendship continues to deepen. Our imperfections are perfect for each other and so are Robert’s unexpected gifts.

One evening, and it wasn’t Valentines’ Day, I arrived home from work to find all the lights out, with tea light candles lit throughout every room. Soft music was playing with a special dinner waiting.

I will always remember that evening. Robert expressed his love for me by taking the time to not only plan the evening, he was totally present for us, as it magically unfolded.

What I’ve learned is that it’s wonderful to have someone special give you flowers, candy or gifts on Valentines’ Day. But it’s far more romantic to feel that love throughout the year.

Real LOVE is the kind you can count on. The kind that sticks around when you have a bad day, and celebrates all the great times with you too! That’s LOVE worth celebrating every day, and so I tell Robert as often as I can how grateful I am to have him in my life.

It took me a long time to realize that there are no “perfect” soul mates. We are all imperfect people loving each other despite our imperfections. The best we can do is to remember to show our love and gratitude to all those we are lucky to have in our lives who love us.

There is no “perfect time” and any gift from your heart is “perfect.”
