Relieve Your Stress, Let Go of Fear
Here’s Something To Feel Good About Today!
“Some think it’s holding on that makes one strong; sometimes it’s letting go.” Sylvia Robinson
How do you know when to hold on and when it’s time to let go?
Share a situation in your life that taught you when it was time to move on. We could all use some tips that give us the courage to make a necessary change easier and less stressful. What are a few of yours?
I have to admit that I’ve created a lot of additional stress for myself by holding on to people, situations and objects long after they served their purpose.
I once clung to an unhappy marriage because I was terrified to feel the void of being on my own. Then there were jobs I stayed too long at, claiming a sense of loyalty, when it was really my fear of the unknown that was holding me back.
In each case, rather than take positive action, I waited for change to come as I stoked the fire of my disappointment, justifying my anger when it was really time to address my own fears, accept, forgive and move on. The more emotionally invested, the harder it always was for me to let go.
What I’ve learned from the past is very clear to me now. My first loyalty must always be to my own happiness. If I’m stressed, it’s time to evaluate and make a change. It’s so much easier to let go when I’m the one making the choices. Each of my challenges while in transition has taught me self-empowerment works over victimhood every time.
Ultimately, I’ve learned that change is good and necessary for the new and the fresh to begin. There is freedom and possibility when I trust myself and find the faith to let go, take the risk and delve into into the unknown. The measure of whether it’s time to make a change for me now is the level of happiness and contentment I feel. Too much stress is a clear sign that something’s gotta give, and that positive shift is up to me to make.
If you’re feeling stressed or unhappy, try this tip, it always works for me. Write down the issue that’s bothering you along with all the What If’s. Determine the possible outcomes to your question. Make two columns, on one side list all the pros and on the other all the cons. I’ve found that seeing anything in writing helps bring clarity, reduces my stress, and results in a positive change.

You are so right Marlene, Many times we hold on to things much after they have served their purpose. I guess that is the human nature of attachment, we feel attached to simple things in life be happy for they being their and sad when we loose them. But the courage to let go does not happen for all, they often connect unknown to unhappiness.
This is the first time I am here and I will frequent more
